The vulnerability is caused due to an error within the "compress_add_dlabel_points()" function in dns/Compress.c, which can be exploited to cause a heap-based buffer overflow by sending a specially crafted request. The vulnerability is confirmed in version 1.4.05. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to trusted users only.
