The vulnerability is caused due to the vdlptokn.sys kernel driver not properly validating a certain pointer in a structure. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges via a specially crafted IOCTL sent to the affected driver. The vulnerability is reported in version 3.2.7 and confirmed in version 4.1.12. Other versions may also be affected. SOLUTION: Restrict access to trusted users only.
