Background ========== CTorrent is a BitTorrent client implemented in C++ to be lightweight and quick. Affected packages ================= ------------------------------------------------------------------- Package / Vulnerable / Unaffected ------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 net-p2p/ctorrent < 3.3.2-r1 >= 3.3.2-r1 Description =========== CTorrent contains a stack-based buffer overflow in the btFiles::BuildFromMI function in trunk/btfiles.cpp. Impact ====== A remote attacker could entice a user to open a specially crafted torrent file using CTorrent, possibly resulting in execution of arbitrary code with the privileges of the process or a Denial of Service condition. Workaround ========== There is no known workaround at this time. Resolution ========== All CTorrent users should upgrade to the latest version: # emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose ">=net-p2p/ctorren-3.3.2-r1" References ========== [ 1 ] CVE-2009-1759 http://web.nvd.nist.gov/view/vuln/detail?vulnId=CVE-2009-1759 Availability ============ This GLSA and any updates to it are available for viewing at the Gentoo Security Website: http://security.gentoo.org/glsa/glsa-201311-11.xml Concerns? ========= Security is a primary focus of Gentoo Linux and ensuring the confidentiality and security of our users' machines is of utmost importance to us.
